  4. Hi,

    A sentence is still in italian, in the english version :
    [fixed :)]

    comments.php, line 67

    Thank you for releasing this theme (which license?)
    I'm translating it in french, i'll advice you if I succeed.

  5. Hey Dwit,
    Please download the theme again. I have fixed the translation.
    The comments.php file was taken from a client of mine so I forgat some words in it.
    It should be ok now. Thank you for telling me.

  6. Hi Gaby,

    I've uploaded a french translation here :

    Your theme is licensed under GPL? Then, you cannot place a no sale restriction on the use of your theme.

    4. Conveying Verbatim Copies.

    You may convey verbatim copies of the Program's source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate copyright notice; keep intact all notices stating that this License and any non-permissive terms added in accord with section 7 apply to the code; keep intact all notices of the absence of any warranty; and give all recipients a copy of this License along with the Program.

    You may charge any price or no price for each copy that you convey, and you may offer support or warranty protection for a fee. (Emphasis added.)

    Now, the right thing for people to do would be to not sell your hard work, but it's certainly not an enforceable rule.

    This is just a head's up. The folks at WP tend to look at themes as straight code and don't realize the creativity and artistic value of the graphics/CSS coding that goes into each individual theme and it's the reason why some WP theme designers don't agree with the GPL/GPL compatible license rule.

    Is there any way to add another sidebar box with its own catagory of links iside it?

  13. Open the sidebar.php file with a text editor and before the closing of the sidebar div add this code:

    You can change 1 with 2 or 3. Depending on what color you want.

    Thanks GlamourGaby

    I did that already but I have the problem where I cannot open a new box for a separate category – for example if I want to add a new box for Premium Sites and one for Free Sites they both end up in the same box, that is they automatically default to the box containing the link:

    I think the problem is that no sidebars are defined.

    I'll try and fix it using wordpresses recomendations and see how it goes.

    Thanks again and thanks for the great theme.

  15. Could you supply a link?

  16. I love the look of this layout and planning to put it for my online shopping blog. the thing is, it's not widget friendly. any chance to make it a widget friendly?

  17. The next version will be widget ready.

  18. Thank you!

  19. [...] Dum-dum – (Live Demo) -This theme is another clean and simple design. It's very candy-ish with pleasing colors. [...]

  20. i've installed it on my blog, but it's broken.
    i don't know what's wrong with the theme, but the images on the themes does not appear.

    :-(

    since i'm using linux, i didn't upload it via ftp. i used file manager on my cpanel, and i upload it one by one. did i miss something?

  21. nice!And it's suitable for girls.

  22. @chocoluv
    You have to upload all the images from the theme here:
    http://chocoluv.elzan.com/wp-content/themes/dum-dum/images/

  23. Hi,

    We've tried this theme, we like it very much, it's exactly what we were looking for, nice and clean.

    Unfortunately, the right column seems to be broken for some urls, when we've tried to activate the theme in our site. In the wordpress site, you can see that too, in the preview, here: http://wp-themes.com/dum-dum/

    Here you are the broken thing: http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/9428/imagen3ma5.png

    Did you know about that? could that be fixable? we've tried several browsers, none of them works.

    Anyway thank you very much, it's a great theme, exactly what we wanted, if that can't be fixed, we will hate to search for another one :(

    Regards,
    Pablo

  24. I fixed the theme Pablo. Please download the new version from the post above.
    Thanks for pointing out the problem.

  25. Wow, that was a fast answer, thank you very much, we'll try again with the fixed version.

    Thanks!

    Hi

    Is it possible to add a link to admin space (in the footer or somewhere else)

    The french version need to be mofified (in vesion 1.1, the field "articles + récents" ne s'affichent pas entièrement voir : http://kiosk.toile-libre.org/blog/ en bas de page)

    thx
    pouet

  27. @Pouet
    You can add this code in the file footer.php
    < ?php wp_register(); ?>

  28. Hi!

    We finally managed to use your really great theme, in our site, but we have a question about unordered lists.

    It seems like the litle black point falls over the side line, you can see that here:

    http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/1394/imagen5sh3.png

    We are two people here, and we have a bet about that, my friend thinks it's a mistake that needs to be fixed, it should be moved to the right.

    But actually, given the obvious quality of your work, and given the fact that I don't think that's 'ugly', I think you made those on purpose that way, over the line.

    Sorry if we ask too much about a free theme, we are willing to pay/donate/whatever if that's necesary.

    So what's it gonna be? a bug or a feature? :)

    Thanks!
    Pablo

  29. Its a featured bug :)
    I never use lists in my posts.
    Add this to the css:

    .post ul, .post ol {
    padding-left: 25px;
    }

  30. Damm it, I guess my friend was right!

    Anyway, thanks again :)

  31. Thank you pouet, I'll try to fix it.

    Gaby, when will you release the next version 'widget ready', just to know if I translate the version 1.2 or if I wait.

  32. I think in about 2-3 weeks. I have some other projects at the moment plus I would like to release the photo blog theme before I release the widget ready theme.

    I can't wait for the next version with 'widget ready' is ready! I really love you theme but I was already looking for another one because of it isn't widget ready. But now I'll just wait!

  34. I released this theme like this to see the interest it gains.

    What a phenomenal theme! I'm new to wordpress, so I'm assuming I'll figure out a lot of stuff in the future, like how to add an image to the header, or alter the blogroll (probably a basic dashboard thing) but I'm BLOWN AWAY by how great this theme is in its look and can't wait for the widget-ready version.

    I would gladly purchase a version with greater flexibility.

    Thanks,
    H

  38. It is really beautiful!Thank you!

  39. Heya GlamourGaby :-), thanks for your beautiful template. I am currently messing a bit around with WP, get a bit more aquainted to it'n stuff.

    Any clue about that? If i click on 'Widgets' -> i'll get a message 'Es wurde keine Sidebar definiert' what means sth. like 'there is no sidebar defined'. Then some blabla, that the theme needs to be changed to support Widgets …

    Erm – any hints ;-)

    @Ron
    GlamourGaby hat doch schon gesagt, dass die aktuelle Version keine Widgets unterstützt und das in den nächsten Wochen kommt. ;-)

    Obviously the theme doesn't support widgets, although a lot of theme databases claim it would. So I was a little confused at first. I'm looking forward to the widget-ready version, too. It's such a light and friendly theme.

  41. Widgets are not currently supported.
    But they will be eventually :)

  42. @Raleigh
    Asche auf mein Haupt, manchmal sieht man den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht ;-) – yupp, einige Datenbanken schreiben dies. Danke für die Klärung :-).

    @GlamourGaby
    Thank you for your kind answer :-). Yes, would be fine to have the option for widgets. Anyway – Dum-Dum rocks!

    Here are 2 simple steps to enable widget support for this theme:

    1. Insert the following code on a new line after "" in sidebar.php

    2. Create a new file in the themes directory called "functions.php" and add the following code:

    ",
    'after_widget' => '',
    'before_title' => ",
    'after_title' => ",
    ));

    ?>

  50. What's about blockquotes in comments? See here: http://wpglamour.com/themes/2008/01/06/post-with-links-and-paragraphs/#comment-5

    The "postmetadata" line has some problems. I don't see why it expands like this but it doesn't look very nice.

    Great theme – thanks for sharing.

  61. Hi GG
    We love your theme and have been using it our blog, but something seems to be broken with the archive

    http://pinupbalm.com/blog

    when you click on the archives the entire theme is breaking up, Any advice

    Thanks again for sharing – you are pure design genius!

  62. I love what you did with the theme. Very Nice.

    I see you have don't have the theme in the original directory but rather in the "default" directory.
    Copy the theme in the directory "dum-dum" and activate it from the admin panel. Don't just copy the theme files in the directory "default".

  63. okay you are a super duper genius, when I went into my default directory I saw that I had duplicates of the files which was causing the problem as well. Thanks again for such an amazing delicious design – you've made my life all that more marrrrrrrrrvelous!

    Any chance on getting widget support soon ;)

  64. Download the latest theme version from this post. It has widget support.

  65. I would love to use the theme…and I am sure there is an easy answer to this…. how can I remove some of the nav buttons along the top and in sidebar. Some of the pages being displayed are subpages and I don't want direct nav to them.

    Thanks in advance.

  66. @Pete
    If you want the pages to only show top level links than you have to not use a widget for the box 1 and add the same code as in the header for the box 1.

  67. I will use Dum-Dum at the point it supports blockquotes… Please, please make that to work for the next version. :)

  68. It doesn't?
    Maybe it doesn't support blackquotes in the comments, but it does in the posts.
    See here: http://wpglamour.com/themes/2008/03/06/article-with-quote/

  69. Hi GG
    it's me again – i also noticed that the blockquote wasn't working, viewing the source the only difference I noticed was even in code view when I add the tags they do not save in the source file …any suggestions?

  70. So you are saying that you add the "blockquote" tag in the article and you don't see it in the page?
    If that is the case than its not something from the theme.
    The link from a few comments up is from an article that has blockquotes in it and it works fine.

    I don't think I understand the problem entirely.

  71. What happens is the image (quote) does not appear. The blue dotted line box works fine, any clues, if you go:
    http://pinupbalm.com/blog
    the July 27th entry

    Thanks!

  72. Open the CSS file
    Search for .posttext blockquote {
    add: clear: both;
    The image is overlapping the quote box. this should fix it.

  73. Thanks so much GG
    Simply Fabulous you are! You deserve some lip balm would love to send you some :)

  74. The widget works fine but the colours for the most of the sideboxes are only yellow, instead of mixture of the three.

    Can that be fixed?

  75. There are 3 sidebars. Each one with its one color.
    Box1 is yellow wile the rest are different colors.

  76. nice theme

    i Love it so much.

  77. Hi GlamourGaby.

    First of all, thank you for making this theme available. It is an adorable theme to use (I should know, I'm currently using it).

    I'm new to Wordpress but I wanted to ask whether I would be able to add a header image to this particular theme? If so, what dimensions do I have to make it and which files do I change?

  79. very catchy theme…thanks

  80. @Patricia, it should be 760pixels in width.

  81. Links also aren't showed: http://www.frumble.de/…ionen/#comment-29

    Blockquotes: Yes, in articles it works but even not in comments. When you quote others conclusion you fast want to use blockquotes.

  82. Ok, ok, I'll fix that too in a couple of days :)

  83. couple of days before i wrote that i have this theme in turkish and i gave the link but it is deleted why ???

  84. Its one thing to add your link in the footer but it another thing to delete my link, the one to this website, and put your own.
    Theme rejected.

  85. Oh, and something else. Exactly after your comment there was a spam comment in turkish, image the coincidence.

  86. it is not a spam it was just a word in Turkish for Turkish users it says this theme is available in Turkish

  87. i didn't delete your link it still there i double checked and
    i just added my link that is all, no more.

    do u still reject the theme ?

    i just wanted to help that is all

  88. And a further "bug" (issue ;) ): I can't reorder the widgets "pages", "archive" and "links" (blogroll) in the sidebar cause they are fixed in Dum-Dum. "Pages" is always on top, archive and links always at the bottom. It would be nice if that were possible…

  89. Hi Maxi. Since the theme is now widget ready, you can activate the widgets and put the pages where ever you want.

  90. Ah, you're right with "pages". But the other two not, they are fixed. I even haven't drop they into my widget box in the WP administration, they are simply there without an entry:

  91. There are 3 sidebar boxes. Select the other two so you can add widgets in other boxes.

  92. OK, wonderful. But the original links widget from Dum-Dum is so splitted in two widgets as you can see on my site. One "Blogs" and one "Podcasts" how my both links categories. But this is no big thing for me.

  97. @Yukito,
    Try to but your image in the file header.php
    You'll get it working eventually :P (hopefully)

    @Andrey,
    The number that appears under each post is the number id not the incremented number from the last post.
    Its normal that is showing like that.

    @Mick,
    I made a boo-boo with my blog about one week ago and I lost the french version.
    If someone can resend that I will upload it again.

  98. My notes to 1.4.1:

    sidebar.php: [...] [...] -> but it's in box 2

    For the German version I had to resize the one button image a little bit (isn't in your 1.4.1):

    .navigation a {
    text-decoration: none;
    display: block;
    width: 133px; (-> to 133px)

    In the comments.php a translation neglect (mine):
    [...] Name

    <input type="text" name="email" id="email" value="" size="22" tabindex="2" />
    E-Mail (wird nicht veröffentlicht) [...]

    In both "required" to "erforderlich", please. ;)

    Why do you have kicked out this (no problem but it's only to prevent possible problems ;) ):

    h3.single_h3 {
    font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    font-size: 17px;
    color: #9A6A3A;
    text-align: center;
    margin: 0;
    }

    Hey guys! Its me again.

    Just wanted to report a problem(But I don't know if this problem is caused be the theme or the plugin)

    I downloaded and activated the plugin: Wordpress Guestbook Generator from: http://www.alleba.com/blog/2006/09/21/wordpress-guestbook-generator-plugin/

    The Plugin works but if I want to comment in the normal commentzone the layout does not display the images. btw the guestbook works with the commentfunction from wordpress.

    maybe somebody knows more about this?

    Ah and I know a guestbook is kinda "out" but I like this feeling of having a guestbook :D

  100. Thanks for releasing. Use this to my blog.

    Regards.

  101. hi!

    I love your design!

    I tried to insert my banner at: HEADER (header.php)

    /head>

    <a href="<img src="

    I cannot see the image. What am I doing wrong?

    Do I need to modify the CSS page also?

    Thank you in advance.

    Zurui

  102. @Yukito
    I do not know that plugin.
    The code for my theme all validates so there isn't any bad code.
    If you activate that plugin and it messes up your comments than that means the problem is from the plugin not the theme.

    @zurui
    I see you managed to put an image in your header. Nice.

  103. Yes, I did after about 5-hours of studying other blogs and looking at their code. I admire you for being able to build this theme.

    BTW, how do I remove the white space above my header?

    Again, thanks for a great theme!

  104. Zurui, delete the h1 and h2 tag from header.php

    Thank you for your lovely theme. I am new to WordPress and your theme. My question: I am using the three styles of sidebars (three different colors), but I can't seem to arrange them such that the colors alternate. It puts all the box-1's, followed by all the box-2's, followed by all the box-3's. Is there a way to alternate them: box-1, box-2, box-3, box-1, box-2, box-3, etc.?

  106. If you want to do this just from the admin panel then no.
    You would have to edit sidebar.php file and create new boxes and add your content in them.

    The smile is a little creepy :)

  110. ok man no problem (actually i though about it – just bad EN, no intention)

  111. [...] avec le thème Dum-Dum réalisé pour WordPress par Gaby, un thème à deux colonnes très bonbon acidulé et dont la traduction française est accessible [...]

  112. I love dum-dum. I try other themes and just keep coming back.
    Great job.

  113. Hi there! Really love Dum-Dum, but I've noticed that when a commenter adds any URL, the linked text is white — which makes it unreadable against a white background; cf.

    http://indigestible.nightwares.com/2008/11/03/how-stupid-do-you-have-to-be-a-rhetorical-trifecta/#comments

    The first commenter there embedded a URL that's turned the linked text white on a white background.

    I've pored over the files in the theme editor but can't identify where the link colors are set for comments — can you point me in the right direction so I can change the colors?

    Thanks!

  114. Warren, add this to the css:

    .commenttext a:link, .commenttext a:visited{
    color: #9A6A3A;
    }

    Thank you for this theme. It is so cute and perfect. I am new to blogging and don't know any code or CSS but is there any way to add one more box to the sidebar? I'd like to add a box to some of my own links outside of my blog. Is there an easy way to to do this? can someone help walk a newbie through it? :)

  118. Hello Jane. I'm glad you like my theme :D
    If you want to add another box to your sidebar then you need to first open the file sidebar.php
    Look for:
    </div> <!– SIDEBAR –>

    Above that add this:
    <div class="box3">
    <div class="box3text">
    <ul>
    <?php wp_list_bookmarks(); ?>
    </ul>
    </div> <!– BOX3 TEXT –>
    </div> <!– BOX3 –>

    Change the number 3 with 2 or 1 depending on what color you want.

    If you would of read the comments your would of seen that someone already asked the same question and they got the same answer :)

  119. Oh, and instead of:
    <?php wp_list_bookmarks(); ?>
    You will put your own text.

    Wow! Thanks for the fast response! :)

    I was already able to get a fourth box by copying and pasting but I can't seem to add the actual LINKS and TEXT into my box. I dont' know how to do this.

  121. A link looks like this:
    <a href="URL">TEXT</a>

    I can't help you more than this :)

    :) That was much more simple then I thought. For some reason, I thought I had to make another file and have it be pulled like the "bookmarks". Thank you :)

  124. Hi Gaby

    We still have not been able to figure out why the weblog does not show the current posts, it's only showing the august 08 posts – also is there any way to have the sidebar scroll with the post versus being located at the very end of the page as posts are added?

    Thanks! and Happy Holidays!

  126. Is it possible that the ›x Comments‹ link doesn't works correctly? I come always with it at the top of the article page. Thank you for a little fix. ;)

  127. Hi Maxi.
    I see the link just fine. I see it at the bottom of an article.
    Can you send me a url where that links shows at the top of an article?

  128. Coulé – my fault. ;) The link "links" at the top of the article page, not the link *is* on the top. ;)
    I will not forwarded to the beginning of the comments area of the article page when I click on the "x Comments" link. Try this e.g. with your own demo site.

  129. Ohh, I think I see what you mean.
    open comments.php and then add in the first line this:
    <a name="comments"></a>

    See if that works.

  130. Aaah, exactly that is it. Thx. =)

    And now, finaly even the blockquotes mark in the comments, that will be my highest pleasure. ;)

  131. Search for:
    .posttext blockquote {

    Replace with:
    .posttext blockquote, .commenttext blockquote {

  132. Wow, a further christmas, it works, many thanks!

  134. Lulu, I don't know why your blog acts like that. Its definetly not from the theme.
    You must of done something.
    As for the sidebar, you can put another div under the sidebar one but above all the other content and put this for it:
    position: fixed;

  135. Hello Gaby,

    First, thank you for this theme, it is very cool! I am using it right now, but for some reason when I add a subpage to an already existing page the navigation menu on the index page looks all strange. I am really bad at explaining, but you may be able to reproduce the issue on the sample layout here. Please let me know if there is a way to fix that :)

  136. Hi There,

    I love this theme. I admittedly don't know much about this stuff. I haven't added any plugins or anything like that. Since I started using Dum Dum none of my guests comments show up. It shows the following error.

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_avatar() in /home/tvtjzaaa/public_html/wp-content/themes/dum-dum/comments.php on line 27

    I can see the comments when I login into the admin page. Can you help with this ?

    Is it possible that an older version of WP would do this as I have not updated in a while ?

    Thanks.

  137. @Lea
    Bonjour Lea :)
    Can you reproduce the problem on your blog and send me the link thru email so I can see what the problem is? Because I understand at the moment.

    @Amanda
    I think the problem is the fact that you didn't upgrade to the latest wordpress version.
    Try to upgrade and tell me after that if that fixed it.
    You could install this plugin to upgrade faster:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/

  138. Sure, will do that… Sorry to bother you with that, but I completely suck at editing CSS (and I suppose the problem comes from that :p)

  139. I love your theme, it is so clean and organized! Thanks!
    Is there a way to have the pages in the top header have a drop down menu for the subpages (child pages)? Right now the sub pages show as pages.

    It is probably something basic, but I can't figure it out! Thanks for your help!
    Kira

  140. Hi there, I love this theme and it is perfect for my blog (http://popdiscourse.com/). However, the one glitch is that the custom header appears on index.php but not if you click on a permalink or category archive.

    This code: is inserted properly at each Main Index Template, Page Template, and Single Post.

    Can you advise? I'd love to keep using this template but if I can't get this sorted out I'll probably (sadly!) have to find a template where the headers work on all pages.

    Thanks! -Christine

  141. @Christine
    You just have a small error in your code.
    Open header.php and look for:
    images/popdiscourse_logo.jpg
    Replace that with the full url of the image which is:
    http://popdiscourse.com/images/popdiscourse_logo.jpg
    After this it will work.

  142. THANK YOU so much for your quick response – that did the trick!

    And thanks for the awesome template. :-)

    Hi! I'm having problems with the post count, it went from #1 to #64 for my 2nd post to #97 for my third post! Help! :)

  146. The post number is actually the post ID from the wordpress database. So if you have lots of revisions to articles, or you create an article and then delete it, the numbers will not be in incremented order.

  147. Please, can you tell me where in the CSS I can make the post's layout wider? If that is not a too big thing… Thank you very much!

  148. Hi GlamourGaby
    I want to add more widget to sidebar .
    box1 can add only 2 ,box2 can add 1 and box3 can add 2 .
    Can you tell me how to do ..
    Thanks a lot …

    Hi, I'm using 1.4.1 and I'm not sure I understand why the text for the comment link in the comments.php is the date of the comment, isn't it misleading? Why not something like the usual 'permalink'?
    And you do not need to specify the date format, using the method with no parameters uses the format the user set in his wordpress settings.

    very nice theme, just one question, where can i change the width, i want contents box more wider, so pic won't excess the edge..

  151. I don't offer support for people who remove the link in the footer.
    I hope you can understand the reason. Thanks.

  152. I love the bella theme.. It is the best WP theme out there!!! Well done!! I have two questions… First, how would I make the header title look like the big (blue) text on the sidebar and vice versa. Also, in the sample image, there is a yellow box with dotted line that houses some text. What is that and how do you set it up? Your help appreciated. Thanks!

  153. Love the theme! I tweaked it a little for my purposes, but I take no credit!

    For Boson, it's possible to add some code to the stylesheet so large images will fit within the content parameters:

    img {max-width:100%;}

    works like a charm for me!

    I'm still working on tweaking the theme for my purposes, so if you stop by know that I'm still working on it.

    This will be my blog look for a while now, I'm pretty satisfied! Maybe one day I'll be able to create my own templates but until then I'll be happy to use and send people your way! Thanks!

  154. oh, forgot to write my question:

    As it stands, some of the text in the side boxes is defaulting to Times, and I don't want it to. I'm seriously not a CSS guru so any help in this would be appreciated. I'm sure I'll figure it out, but it might take me days, where for you it might be a simple answer.

    Thanks!

  155. Love this theme very much, thanks.
    I had one question to ask, when I click the category section the sidebar not in line with the body, it fall down away to the bottom, how can I fix this…

    Thanks.

  156. How can I utilize drop down menus? When I add sub-pages it jumbles my main pages menu and shows some of the sub-pages as main pages.

    Love the theme!
