When I notice FF3 responding slowly to forms and copying text, lo and behold its using ~1GB of Ram out of 2GB. The only solution albeit crappy is to close FF and restart.

I too cannot browse without my add-ons.

If you are like me, then Firebug is one of the biggest culprits. I have found that I have to suspend Firebug in order to keep my Firefox from stammering. Like you I keep a lot of tabs going, and I have found that if I keep Firebug running and I use it, then it starts to chow down on memory.

For me, Firebug automatically runs for every site. I think it should be disabled and only work on sites you tell it.

You could create different profiles inside Firefox.

For eg

1 Personal Profile with passwords, bookmarks and other kind of stuff that you only use for personal motives.

and a 2º profile for Work, where you`ll got the same stuff i said but only those you use to work

For create Profiles, and choose one.

On the desktop shortcut, add -p
"\Program Files\Mozzila\Firefox\Firefox.exe" -p

Kinda that

I already had those setting in place. Except the nglayout.initialpaint.delay which was set to 250 for some reason.
I have FasterFox installed to it tweaked my settings for me.
My huge amount of memory usage is definitely from the fact that I have a lot of plugins. But since, like I said, I can't get rid of them, I have to just wait for a version that will live in perfect symbiosis with the plugins.

u can follow this trick :
1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
      network.http.pipelining,
      network.http.proxy.pipelining,
      network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
2. Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
3. Alter the entries as follows:
4. Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" by double-clicking it.
5. Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" by double-clicking it.
6. Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to 8 by double-clicking it. This means it will make 8 requests at once. There is no point setting it higher then 8 as it is capped at 8 max. [The default value for this setting is 4]
7. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
8. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!
